In ancient times boats were pulled by stock on the river Mirna all the way to Motovun, which was at that time trading port. Boats were carrying amphorae with olive oil, wine, and various lumber. Antenal is located at the mouth of river Mirna. As early as in Roman times, Antenal was a major traffic hub through which important sea and land routes ran. It was the second largest port in northern Adriatic. Only Venetian port was larger than Antenal. According to ancient records, up to 50 boats under different flags ‘rested’ here. In memory of those times, sailors, and merchants, Porat Antenal was created. Vinified and aged, from Istrian grapes, intended for new travelers, with new horizons.
